In this chapter, students should remember the common patterns and properties of multiplication, that have been learned in previous chapters. Students are working with arithmetic patterns, to develop their algebraic skills, for future use. They are also practicing using bar models, diagrams, (visual aids--pictures) and tables to organize their information. Students are finding the unknown factor (represented as a letter or symbol) in an equation, by using step-by-step problem solving. The Distributive Property is heavily used in this unit, in order to more quickly multiply larger numbers.
Properties: Identity Property, Associative Property, Commutative Property, Zero Property, & Distributive Property.

Properties: Identity Property, Associative Property, Commutative Property, Zero Property, & Distributive Property.
Patterns:
- Anything times 0 equals zero.
- Anything times 1 is the other number.
- Anything times 2 is a doubles fact.
- Skip count by 5's and 10's.
