By now, your child should know several ways to complete multiplication problems (using arrays, repeated addition, equal groups--"Bagel Bites", number lines/skip counting, bar models, fact families, multiplication songs, and etc.).
Your child should also be very used to showing work (how they solved the problem) & labeling (the answer). When solving a multiplication story problem, identify the numbers being used, and circle them. Underline the key words and question to solve for in the problem. Students have learned many different ways to solve multiplication problems, and should now know the ways that are best fit for him/her!
In this chapter, we are also learning & reviewing multiplication properties. Your child will be practicing the Distributive Property of Multiplication (Break-Apart Strategy) often in this chapter. We will be reviewing previously learned properties of multiplication, as well.
